YOUNG ARTISTS’ COMPETITION
2011 - 2012

WOODWINDS, BRASS,
PERCUSSION, STRINGS
and VOICE

Awards: The winner will perform Friday, March 30, 2012 with the Northeast Orchestra.
A cash scholarship prize of $500.00 will be awarded to the first place winner.
All finalists will be recognized with the Excellence in Artistry Award.
Eligibility:
Students, grades 9-12, who are residents of
Repertoire
Requirements:
One or more movements of any standard concerto, a single movement work or multiple movements of a suite not more than 15
minutes total time. All selections are subject to approval. Please contact Lisa Book to confirm that the selection to be played is on the
approved list. All repertoire is subject to availability of the orchestral accompaniment parts. The NEO shall not incur any
cost above $200.00 to acquire the accompaniment music. Should the applicant choose to perform repertoire above this limit,
he/she shall be
responsible for
the additional expense incurred. For help in determining

Fees: An Entry Fee of $25.00 (non-refundable) must accompany the application form. Please make checks payable to:
Northeast Orchestra.
Audition
Procedures:
Application must be postmarked no later than January
30, 2012.
Include: entry form, check for $25.00, and a short biography (300
words).
Live
auditions will take place at
The
piece must
be performed with accompaniment and the performer must supply their own accompanist.
Memorization
is recommended.
The performer
must supply published copies of the
work for the judges’ use. A total of three is needed; one
must be an original. (All will be returned after the audition.)
Applicants will be contacted by
e-mail with
their scheduled audition time.
There will be a limited number of
audition
spaces
available
and
they will be assigned in order received.
